Motor City Madness Esports Championship Tournament Rules

PRIZES

  • The winner of each online bracket earns a spot in the 16-person live finals at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on March, 1, 2018 @ 7:00pm to compete for the $10,000 prize purse.
  • All 16 finalists also receive a one-night stay in a hotel at Detroit the night of the event.
  • EVERY entrant will receive one ticket to the Horizon League Motor City Madness basketball tournament on Friday, March 2, 2018, as well as one spectator pass to the NBA 2K18 tournament on March 1 at Little Caesars Arena.
  • Live event and basketball game tickets will be waiting at Will Call. You will be notified with details after the online tournaments are completed.

ELIGIBILITY AND RULES

  • Must be 18+ to participate
  • All participants must have access to the NBA 2K18 game, gaming system (Xbox1 or PS4), and online account (Xbox Live or Playstation Plus)
  • Residents from the following U.S. states are not eligible to participate in fee-based tournaments for prizes: Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, Maryland, Tennessee. Full terms of use:

  • Players can join multiple online brackets in the Motor City Madness Esports Championship
  • If a player wins an online bracket and is unable to participate in the live finals event, that player will forfeit his or her spot and a replacement player will not be selected
  • All 16 finalists will be required to sign a waiver prior to participating in the live event

ONLINE GAMEPLAY RULES

  • 5 minutes quarters
  • Hall of Fame
  • Lowest ranked team is home
  • Current NBA teams only
  • Injuries Off
  • No playbook editing
  • If your pause timer runs out and the game is exited immediately you will be forfeit

LIVE EVENT GAMEPLAY RULES

  • The live finals championship will be played on XBOX1.
  • NBA 2K18 teams used for the live finals event will be determined as such:

Prior to every game, both players will ban a team that their opponent is restricted from using. A coin toss will then determine which player chooses their team first. After the first player chooses their team, their opponent must choose a different non-banned team. The player who loses the coin toss will be the home team.
