Setting Up A Match

How do I find a player to challenge to a 1v1 tournament match?

The first way to find a user to play is by joining a posted challenge under the Current Action section on the My Saloon page. This is a section where players can post an open challenge for a specific game, console, and amount. Once you click Join it will ask if you want to add your own set of rules. Whether you chose to or not you can then respond to their challenge which will send the player a message letting them know you have done so and that you are ready to play. All posted challenges in this section are challenges posted by members that are currently logged on to Gamersaloon.com.

The second way and what is considered the fastest and easiest way to find an opponent is by using the live chat which we call the Shoutbox. This is an area where players can interact with other players directly and is updated every time something is posted. If you are interested in setting up a 1v1 tournament match you would post in the Shoutbox asking if someone is interested in playing including the game and console you are looking to play and play on. Once you have someone to play you and your potential opponent can discuss any details regarding the match and proceed with setting up the challenge.

Top

How do I challenge other users?

You can post an open challenge by scrolling to the bottom of the My Saloon page to the section that states Create a 1v1 Tournament. The posted match will be open to anyone to join.

You can also challenge other users specifically by clicking their Gamersaloon user name on the Online Now list, by clicking their user name in the Shoutbox, or by going to their player profile directly. A challenge option is posted at the top of everyone's player profile. At that point you will fill the form out which asks for the console, game, amount, and rules and send the challenge.

Top

How do I cancel a challenge?

You can cancel any match that is in the process of being set up but not yet ready to be played under Current Tournaments on the My Saloon page. If the match is in the reporting stage you will not be able to cancel the match on your own. The only way we can cancel it prior to the two hours passing is if both players contact us and let us know that they both want the match voided.

Top

Playing And Reporting A Match

What are the rules for 1v1 matches?

The game play rules differ for each 1v1 match that you play. Before a match is played, both members must agree upon the rules in the pre-game comments when sending or accepting a challenge. Any predetermined game play settings that are broken by any player will be considered cheating. If you don't put anything in the pre-game comments and rules, there are considered to be no rules, and anything goes.

Top

How do I post a result when my game is done?

You post the results under Current Tournaments on the My Saloon page by clicking the report button.

Top

How does the site know who won?

At the end of the match each player will report the results back to the site under Current Tournaments on the My Saloon page. Once a result is reported the opposing player has one hour to verify or dispute the posted result, if the opposing player does not verify or dispute the posted results within one hour the results will be verified automatically.

Top

What if my opponent agrees to play a match on the site and does not show or then refuses to play?

There are no forfeit wins on Gamersaloon in 1v1 matches nor is there any reason to claim a win in an unplayed game. If nothing is reported two hours from the moment the match was set up the match will cancel and issue you both a full refund.

Top

What happens if the game gets disconnected?

We know that disconnections happen during online video game play. Since the Service Fee is nonrefundable, GamerSaloon.com strongly encourages gamers to finish their game in the event of a disconnection, by starting a new game, adding the score of the game prior to disconnection to the end of the remaining time played, playing out the remaining time, and recreating the circumstance at the point of disconnection as best as possible. For example if a game disconnects in Madden with a score of 10-3 and the player with 10 points having the ball at his own 23 yard line with six minutes left in the game, send a challenge for either one six minute quarters or two three minute quarters to allow the two minute warning to be a part of the remaining time, at the coin toss have the player with 10 points receive the ball and return it to around the 23 yard line. In an NBA title if the game disconnects with one player up five points and they have the ball with 10 minutes left, play two, five minute quarters with that player winning the tip off. Once the remaining time has been completed exit the match and add the scores together of the two partial matches. Whoever has the most points with the combined matches wins the tournament. If a disconnected game cannot be completed because of power failure, a disc that no longer works, equipment failure, it may result in a forfeiture of remaining time or the match going unresolved depending on the score and time left at the point of disconnection. If a player is losing a tournament match and the game disconnects on their end and if the score at the point of disconnection is deemed substantial enough that playing the remaining time out is unnecessary or that their opponent cannot be held responsible for setting a second time to finish the tournament match it will result in a forfeiture of the remaining time.

Disputes

What happens in a Dispute?

We take every dispute extremely seriously, and investigate each one individually for up to 72 hours. During that time, we use resources we have including web sites that automatically report scores, contact made between the two participants, along with any evidence sent in by the participants of the match to ultimately make the final decision on who won the game or determine if an agreed upon rule was violated. The person rewarded the victory will receive their winnings, and the other person will be reprimanded accordingly based on the nature of the dispute and outcome. The reprimand can include a fine and/or termination, and the player will receive a dispute on their profile for everyone to see. If we are unable to determine the outcome of the game, the money will be refunded to both players, minus the service fee. All Admin decisions are final. If you want your case looked at again, you must be able to provide indisputable evidence.

Top

What if someone cheats during a game?

If an agreed upon rule is violated we would need indisputable evidence to back your claim in order for it to be enforced. We suggest using anything and everything at your disposal to procure the necessary evidence to back a claim including photos, video, or admittance from the other player a rule was broken. Once you have the evidence you will want to either post it in the dispute comments or send it in to us via email at customercare@gamerslaoon.com or disputes@gamersaloon.com. For information regarding how to proceed in a match you wish to dispute refer to the rules section.

Top

What happens to my match if I prove someone was cheating?

If a match is reviewed and a rule is decided to have been broken the worst case scenario is a refund less the Gamersaloon.com service fee. Each match is subject to its own individual review and whether you are refunded or awarded a win is determined based on the rule or rules that were broken, the effect on the outcome, if you were winning or losing when it took place, and when the game was exited relative to when the rule was claimed to have been broken.

Top

What are dispute fines?

Dispute fines are given if it is determined that a claim in a dispute was determined to be an outright false claim.

Tournaments

How do I Join a multiplayer tournament?

You click the Tournament tab, find the tournament you are interested in joining, and click register.

Top

How do I know my multiplayer tournament has started?

Unless a future date is specified as the start time as soon as the tournament fills it will begin right away. You will receive an email informing you of who your round one opponent is as soon as it launches and the match will also show up under Current Tournaments on the My Saloon page.

Top

Once the tournament has begun what do I do?

We have a full tournament walk-through to answer this question, it explains what to do each step of the way.

Top

I did not play my multiplayer tournament match and my opponent was moved on why is that?

Once a round begins you are given 24 hours to post your available time slots, if you do not you automatically concede the match. Once a match is scheduled you can check in 30 minutes prior to the scheduled match time to 45 minutes after. If you do not check in to play during that time you will automatically concede the match. If no time is scheduled to play because none of the times selected by the players involved matched and we are forced to move the tournament on because of time restrictions the player who made themselves more available will be moved on and the other played will automatically concede the match.
